In the race for the Republican nomination for U.S. president, Rudolph Giuliani, has been at the forefront for many months. His place in 2007 has been small but constant in its nearest competitor, Fred Thompson. The other candidates in the Republican field two candidates trail significantly in recent national polls. Mitt Romney has a high unfavorable rating of voters nationwide and is situated around ten percent. Its advantage is that he leads in early voting Iowa, New Hampshire and Michigan. John McCain € ™ s campaign implosion months. Mike Huckabeeâ € ™ s just campaign viable in Iowa
So the match up (at least for now) seems to function Rudy Giuliani and Fred Thompson Rudy Giuliani goes on to Hillary Clinton in a recent clash projected 2008 presidential election 44% to 41% according to a Rasmussen poll of public opinion. So why is there an uneasy feeling in the Republican Party of the person who was presented as the magazine Time 2001 â € œPerson Of Yeara € and referred to often by the U.S. media as â € œAmericaâ € € ™ s increased (because of his strong leadership in New York after the terrorist attacks of 11 September 2001)?
Leta € ™ s examine the reasons why the Republican Party not trust Rudy Giuliani:
– Rudy Giuliani is not conservative enough for voters in the Republican primary: Giuliani is seen by 68% of Republican voters as liberal or moderate and has taken positions on abortion (pro-choice) gay rights (supported gay rights), and gun control (media) that are clearly unfavorable to the Partya ™ € s conservative base social.
– Rudy Giuliani has no precedent in U.S. foreign policy: While voters historically have never held that lack of experience against of candidates who have been governors, underscores the fact that Giuliani has a background just like the mayor on his resume. Giuliani may be vulnerable to errors important foreign policy issues in the debates.
– Issues exist Giuliani € ™ s planning security before 9 / 11: Jerome Hauer, the emergency management in New York, director from 1996 to 2000, and a leading U.S. expert Biodiversity and chemical terrorism, Giuliani has stated that has been active in monitoring the location of the city hall in the complex crisis of the World Trade Center, although he was a terrorist target known after the 1993 attack against a truck bomb that killed six people on the site. The decision on the location of the crisis control room proved disastrous in 2001 as the building was burned in the collapse of the adjacent twin towers. Giuliani also was accused by some in New York for not introducing an integrated control system emergency which could not ensure coordination between the police and firefighters, despite the need for coordination in the aftermath of the 1993 truck bombing.
– Rudy Giuliani € ™ s personal history point of contention in the general election campaign: Giuliani's first marriage was his second cousin, Regina Peruggi. They were married for 14 years, before Giuliani had the marriage annulled by the Catholic Church. Her second marriage was Donna Hanover, a journalist, and Sometimes soap opera actress. Immediately after Giuliani left office, he filed for divorce, accusing Hanover of "cruel and inhuman." In response, Hannover blamed former mayor of "open and notorious adultery." When their divorce was finalized, Hannover received a million dollars a year food. He divorced and married Donna Hanover divorced nurse, Judith Nathan in 2006.
There are about four weeks until voters begin to cast their vote in the Republican primary and the race was status quo for several months. Giuliani retains a lead in the polls over the conservative candidate Fred Thompson. All other candidates are far behind the two leaders at the polls. This race is really about to begin. Giuliani has name recognition and leadership attributes that voters gained favor after the 9 / 11 terrorist attacks. However, Giuliani maintained the position that do not reflect the beliefs of the central base of the Republican Party. It may also be vulnerable in a battle of the 2008 presidential elections with the Democratic Party based on the limited experience in foreign policy and its background personal.
The Democratic Party has a clear leader in their battle for the nomination of Hillary Clinton and that race can be completed before the vote on first primary is cast. For the GOP, the race for the nomination is still wide open and about to begin.
