Westminster Abbey built around the model of Christian worship, as it has for seven centuries. But it is also where the royal coronations have taken place since 1066.

Westminster Abbey is also the burial site of many past kings and queens of England and Scotland, as well as many men and women, famous in the pages of history. Westminster Abbey has the aura of a contest in British history, as seen in the mosaics, stained glass, paintings, tombs, textiles and other beautiful objects on the screen. No wonder that Westminster Abbey is home to a million visitors every year!

But besides Abbey itself, visitors can explore the grounds to see the Abbey of St Margaret's Church – the original church of the British Parliament, the House of Commons and Lords. By contrast, the Cathedral of St. Paul's Cathedral London quarter to take its place. It was designed by the court architect Sir Christopher Wren and the building was completed in 1710. An outline of 40 million EUR restoration has been in place for some time – and new installations will be a great way to celebrate the 300th anniversary of the cathedral in 2010!

For now, however, visitors can enjoy a program of regular worship and sermons. This is the Church of London, saw such famous events as the funeral of Admiral Lord Nelson, the laying to rest of the Duke of Wellington and Winston Churchill's funeral have occurred through the centuries.
