How did the GOP get the name of the Republican Party?
I know it means for the Grand Old Party, and came around to 1876, but I am curious where the name comes from. (As a cartoon, random news article, etc.). Especially since the Democratic Party is much older. I realize that is not always two sides have supported the same way that parts of today, but I mean older Democrats in a "official", as it never became extinct in the era of good feelings, while the federal death.
