This is an issue that has arisen many times. What is funny is that all the different responses that people give me when I ask this question. I completed a survey and these are the 5 answers I've gotten more popular, so far.
1. I have to be modest.
2. They have to obey their husbands.
3. Lead because it is their tradition.
4. Lead because it is their culture.
5. They, because they are forced to do so.
Well I like to say that none of these answers are correct. Would you like know the real reason why Muslim women wear the veil (hijab)? This is because your Lord has called for the use. It is a commandment from the Creator to the woman Muslim.
"O Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to draw their clothes near her around. That will be better, so that are known (as Muslims) and not molested ".
(Qur'an: Chapter 33, Verse 59)
I hope this clears the Commons wrong about why Muslim women wear the hijab. Of course you have some cases where women are forced to carry, but that is not the norm. Some women choose to cover even more for those who feel that they bring more obedient to God.
